Dundee

Established in 1909 under the name Dundee Hibernian, the club adopted its current name in 1923. Referred to as The Terrors or The Tangerines, the team's fans are commonly known as Arabs. From August 1969, the team has been sporting tangerine-colored kits and has been playing their home games at Tannadice Park since its inception in 1909. Initially part of the Scottish Premier League (SPL) since its creation in 1998, Dundee United remained a constant presence until the league was dissolved in 2013 to pave the way for the SPFL structure. Following relegation in 2016 to the Scottish Championship, they managed to secure promotion back to the Scottish Premiership in 2020, only to be relegated again in 2023. In terms of achievements, the club has clinched the Scottish Premier Division title once (1982–83), and has won the Scottish Cup twice (1994 and 2010) and the Scottish League Cup twice (1979 and 1980). The team made its debut in European competitions during the 1966–67 season and participated in Europe for 14 consecutive seasons starting from 1976. Notable milestones include reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1983–84 and the final of the UEFA Cup in 1987. Dundee United engages in a fierce local rivalry known as the Dundee derby with neighboring adversaries Dundee. This derby is considered to be the closest geographically in Britain, with the Dens Park stadium being located right next to Tannadice Park. In their head-to-head encounters, Dundee United has emerged victorious 81 times, while Dundee has secured 49 victories, with 44 matches ending in draws between the closely-contested rivals.
